Monica Lee-Boutz is a versatile painter. She works with Watercolor, Acrylic, Charcoal and more.
She experiments with many media such as plaster, fabric dyes, sometimes food dyes, plants, leaves,
to discover a new concept.
Her painting is the destiny of the journey she takes, so to speak.
She was born and raised in S. Korea. She moved to California in 1970, and worked in computer field for Levi Strauss & Co.
After her first child’s birth, her family moved to Santa Rosa, and they have been living in Santa Rosa for 22 years.
She also worked at a local winery and a mortgage company in Marin County as a consultant.
Earlier in life, she worked at theAnimation Production Studio in Korea as one of many artists who drew the
characters in animated movie.
She always had a yearning to become an artist. What began as a hobby in 2002, quickly became a consuming passion.
She participated in many well-known artists’ workshops and enrolled in Santa Rosa Junior College art classes.
She won several awards from juried art shows.
Her spirit and desire to meet the challenge of becoming an artist encourage her to devote her whole being to Art.
She is never content with an ordinary art. She said she is a permanent art student.
She never stops her experimentation in discovering a new technique and to reach the next level towards excellence.
She said it is her journey to strive to better herself whether she achieves that level or not.
